                                                This Week At a Glance
                                                        April 26-30
In Math this week we will model and create subtraction problems in real situations with concrete objects (removing parts of the set).  We will also continue to practice writing addition problems as well.

In Writing we are learning about different types of Frogs.  We will write about Frogs in copy book and they will be our theme this week in workstations.

As a class, we are learning to write stories with a beginning middle and ending.  I ask them to use as many details as possible and just when you think you are finished, you are just getting started.  We are also learning how to write poems.  We have discussed how a lot of poems rhyme and a lot of poems don't.  Some only describe something and most poems have a rhythm to it.  I challenge you to help your child write a poem together.  He/she can bring it to class and read it to their friends!

It is very important to read to your child nightly.  This encourages the love and desire of reading in your child.

STAR OF THE WEEK!!
We have completed Star of the Week!  I know everyone enjoyed having their own week!!

Tucker Signing
Tucker Signing uses a set of 44 hand signs that prompt associations between letters or word chuncks and their sounds. Tucker Signs require readers to see the letter(s), make a sign, and say the sound at the same time. This program is great for any child.  I am very excited to be incorporating this program into our curriculum.  To learn more about Tucker Signing, you can go to http://www.tuckersigns.com/.
